Travel Info

If you plan to travel in Europe, learn to love the train. In France la SNCF is reliable, fairly affordable, comfortable, and comparably clean.

There are plenty of deals for students and young travellers. Be sure to get an ISIC card if you're a student and a student body card, too.
STA travel, who offers the ISIC card, also offers great flight deals and cheap travel insurance.

If you're under 26 and plan to travel around France/Europe for at least a few months, buy the "Carte 12-25." All train trips are at least 25% off and often half price. It lasts a year and often applies to train systems in other countries. A must, it pays for itself.

As for the plane, major European cities are connected by cheap companies like EasyJet and RyanAir. With these companies you can find tickets on-line for as low as 0 Euros. You'll always end up paying at least an airport tax, but I've seen flights from here in the south of France to London for a few bucks, round trip. 'Course, if they lose your bags you might be out of luck...

And then there's Hostelling International, which offers the Youth Hostelling card. This is also a must for those of you who plan to stay the night cheap. Some hostels are grubby and others are really nice. Often breakfast is included, but sheets are provided for a few extra euros. If you bring your own sheets, you're set. Usually you can check out a hostel before hand on their site. Google the town to find out and reserve ahead.
